1980 Trailfire 440

Post by phishoook »

Last year my sled started bogging once warmed. I can keep it running at an idle, but with a load it want's to die. On jack stands, It revs up and down and run like a champ, putting it on the ground is when i have problems. I cleaned the carb, checked the fuel pump, and couldn't find an air leak.

So today I put it back in the shop for the first time since last year. I got it going on the third pull with a shot of starting fluid. it sounds a little rough, but it has some old fuel in it. I took a temp reading at the Y-Pipe. It was about 100 degrees cooler on the pto side. The fan side was warmer.

Last year someone mentioned it might be a bad stator or corrosion on the flywheel. Is there a way to check the stator? Like an ohm reader?

Any help would be appreciated!

I guess I put this in the wrong section. Could it be moved down to the right section?

Sounds like it is hitting on only one cylinder.

its getting spark at both. When I pull the plug wire it will continue to run on one cyl.
