440/4 Tips

Hello fellow sledders.

As a project for my small engines class, i am tearing down and rebuilding the engine out of my '73 600. Are there any tips you guys would recommend to get a little more performance out of this old engine? I am for sure going to port the manifolds and the jugs. Can the ignition timing be advanced on this? Thanks for any insight.
