1976 cyclone starts hard

Post by crazzygunner »

I have noticed my cyclone is a hard starter and does not like to idle untill it gets roling. then it will run awsome
and idle when I stop at stop signs. I am thinking it is a carb adjustment and wondering how to adjust it. I am also planning on rebuilding the carb I have a mikuni vm34-84 where can i find a quality carb kit for it. otherwise it loves to run and has been getting out almost every saturday.

id check the pilot jet to make sure its not partially plugged the idle mixture screw [not speed] may need a little tuning ,id turn it 1/4 turn one way and see if its better or worse if its better go more if worse go 1/4 turn the other way from where you started from and so on if the idle mixture screw makes no change in running the pilot or idle curcuit is plugged somewhere it sounds like its close though just my thoughts wade

Thanks for the advice yestrday I did manage to turn up the idle and it now idles better and starts a bit easyer and will get me by for a few more weeks of riding. After that I do plan on rebuilding the carb because it has been leeking a little from the carb so I think a rebuild with new needle and seat will fix it and stock specs. Because I have no idea how many years it has been since it has been rebuilt. I also put a shut off valve on it. Thanks again for the advice I will try it if I have any more trubble with it.
