Hi Guys,
Matt, thanks for stopping by my trailer, and it was nice to meet another JD nut. The guy racing the Liquifire on the oval track was my buddie, Kenny Waters. He took a 3rd place trophie out of 6 sleds in the 1980 and older 440 Liquid class.
A bit to my suprise, my 78 Cross Country Liquifire took home a 2nd place trophie in the race - unrestored class. That was quite an honor since there were so many sleds at that show, with 488 entries. (Thanks Hudziak!)
There were several other nice Deere's there too, such as Kudla's 82 Trailfire 340, Kyle's sweet 83 Trailfire LX, and a few 400's and a 500's too. And, what would a show be without BS'ing with Aaron Z!
Forgot to bring the digial camera, but I did take a few pic's on the girlfriends 35 mm. I will scan a few in as soon as the film gets developed. Here is a pic of the Trophie winners. I am on the far right, wearing the vintage 1978 Deere racing jacket.
It was an excellent show, and it was great to see a few more Deere's than normal too.

Congradulations Joe for getting second. Must be that NOS seat. I took pictures with a regular camera but do not have a scaner. I am thinking next year i might bring my sled.

Joe, 1st off 2 bads with the pic. #1 you should have been to the left in the photo, away from the red tractor. #2 your girl would have made a cuter impression with her JD jacket on. My buddy Steve said you won a trophy. That sled is a nice original. I might have to load that up one night & leave a Brut carcass in it's place. Show was cool wish I could have stayed longer. Way better than last year. You got to luv the Scorp Sno Pro. AWZ

Hey Guys,
Matt, yes, the seat on the 78 was NOS, as was the throttle and choke cables, and the snowflap hold back bar. The rest of the sled is orginal, inc. all paint and decals. I did let the people judging know it was a new seat, had to be fair about it. That sled was actually found in an old ratty barn in central Wisconsin not too long ago, I think by "Horicon Joe". I brought it home last fall. No matter what you have for a Deere, bring it to the shows.
Aaron, I do have pic's of Cari sitting on the CC with her JD coat on. For a small fee, I will send you one, LOL! She actually had a good time at her first vintage show. We should bring a full set of Deere racers to a show. That would be cool. If I find das Brute anywhere near my barn, I will park my truck on it
Danzig, I picked up my race coat in MN last fall. It has "Richardson 128" on the back, with a "78 Balsom Lake Classic" patch, and a few other on it too. It's neat that it goes with the 78 sled. Any of you guys that raced back then have any info on who this racer was?
Thanks guys for the thumbs up, and hope to see more of you at the shows!

Hey Guys, got to the show late (1PM) and I brought the '73 JDX8, a '76 440 Liquifire and the 1974 Raider Hawk. I did not register the sleds because it was so late but I wanted to add to the DEERE count at the show. These are every day sleds, nothing fancy but the kids and I enjoy them. We wanted to do the trail ride but we did not bring helmets, we have never needed them at the previous trail rides but I know the track since I have finished in the top 3 places in the ENDURO race car division they have held there. We left the sleds loaded and walked around and enjoyed the show very much. Did you guys get the flyers about the vintage show on 2/25 in Constantia, NY? I haven't been to this one before, may have to check it out. Thanks, Don.
Great Eastern Whiteout
I did not here about the show in Constantia but i do not know where that is. I think i might go to a show this saturday in oriskany falls. Joe i hope you do not think i was busting on you for having a nos seat and getting second in the unrestored class. I thought the sled was awesome and am complimenting on you for actually getting a nos seat for the cross country. I just wish i could find a nice original sled like that. Next year i think i will bring my sled if my friend also brings his raider on his trailer because i do not have a trailer.
