My 80 Liqufire has an inertia disc attached to the flywheel. My 84 Liquifire has a ring gear, presumably to add electric starting. I think your assumption is correct.
IDK about your ignition question.

Anyone know what kind of tubing is used on the feed lines from the oil injection pump to the cylinders and crankcase? Mine have a bit of mouse damage from decades of storage.

Thanks Matt. @ nick: yes, I learned from this forum that the '84s are rare. I'm putting the track and suspension from the '80 on the '84. Probably the tie rods n stuff too. Might use the '80 crankshaft. That's about it. Won't chop it up or anything ;-) I'll put some pics up when I figger out how to ...
