Lower coolant hose availability

Post by zambonist »

Hi all. I am new here. What a great resource. I'm in the process of making one good Liquifire out of two poor old abused ones ('80 and '84). Just got new DKirk pistons and gasket/seal kit, so the engine is going together today. The lower coolant hose (the one with the spring inside) looks dodgy on both units. I searched that topic on this forum for quite a while but all I could find is that someone made a small run of repro units and they seem to be gone now. I guess I could rig something up with generic hose but, does anyone know if there are any of the correct hose units are available anymore?
Thanks
Dean

Yes they are (or will be shortly) available. Several members here had a run of them made recently. I think Matt (owner of the site) will have some available in his store or you can try Kenny (ICCSF 108) to see if he has any that aren't spoken for yet.

I hope your using the 80 as parts for the 84 and not the other way around. The production numbers for 84 were very low.

If my notes are correct they only made 420 in 84 and around 9,000 in 80
80 Liquifire (purchased 1996 ~ Running)
80 Liquifire (purchased 2010 ~ Running....Now)
80 Liquifire (purchased 2011 ~ Not running - I officially have a problem now)
83 Snowfire (purchased 2014 father/son restoration project)
78 Spitfire ~ sold (should have been shot for this)

Thanks Matt.
@ nick: yes, I learned from this forum that the '84s are rare. I'm putting the track and suspension from the '80 on the '84. Probably the tie rods n stuff too. Might use the '80 crankshaft. That's about it. Won't chop it up or anything ;-) I'll put some pics up when I figger out how to do it.
