Guys,
Glad everyone had a good time. Too bad Cari did not get to use the Sprintfire again. I hope to join in again next year, sounds like everyone had a great time.

Re: I 500 Coverage
Matt,
Coverage of the race ended at 1:15 EST. Yes, poor coverage of the vintage guys again this year, I would say, worse than last year. I know I complained to both the USCC, and the host radio station, and I think others did as well.

Re: I 500 Coverage
They just knocked off coverage from the Warren County Fairgrounds, the fuel stop. Not much mention of vintage at all, just the six or so that have dropped off. No mention of vintage sleds that have made it through the fuel stop, and no mention of Wade Bennett, Dave Chambers, or Joe Rainville. I gues...

Re: Low Milage 81 Liquifire from Colorado...
Joe has quite a bit of interest in his ETD Liquidator, of this I am positive! That Liquidator has traveled from Minnesota to Wisconsin to New York to Colorado and now to Texas. Most of those miles under the ownership of Joe Rainville. Man, that sled has a lot of road miles!

Wanted Water Pump Pulley and key for Sprintfire
Guys,
Anyone have a seized parts Sprintfire motor that they can pull the pulley/key off of the water pump, or possibly buy the whole pump?
Thanks,

Re: '81 LF Project Revived
I believe in cinching the head gaskets. Lap the two mating surfaces, and if you are using the Winderosa paper/metal head gasket, use gasket cinch. The gasket cinch takes the place of the white silicone Deere used on their replacement gaskets. If you are using the copper fire ring/rubber water jacket...

Re: 440 trailfire clutching
Dustin, I am not Peter, but I will give it a shot... Rings for a Chrome Bore are cast iron material. Rings for Cast Iron bores are hardened material and chrome faced. Rings for Nicasil are hardened, and can be Ti-Nitrided for extra wear prevention. Regular replacement pistons for a chrome-bore Kawas...

Re: '81 LF Project Revived
If your head gaskets leaked, then you will benefit from taking the jugs off, removing the studs from the jugs, and lapping the jugs and the heads for a better seal. When you have the jugs off, drizzle some two stroke oil down the lube ports for all of the bearings. This extra oil will lubricate the ...

Re: Camoplast track on a JD Trailfire?
I did the Phazer track conversion on one of my Liquifires. I may have been the jd guy you talked to mwking. That would have been the fall of 2010. Mike, the rails do need to be spaced out, Deere stock spacing is 7.625" (I think), and the Phazer track is the more common spacing 8.00" (I thi...

Re: JD Cover Thingy
Certainly is odd. The trailers were black, so why would the glass be painted green? I bet this was not JD factory, but as Matt says painted, decaled and sold through the dealer. Just my speculation, I don't have any proof.
