Re: 1981 spitfire spark?
Sounds like it might be your stator coils. Here is a diagrahm with the specs, try doing an ohm test to see what kind of reading you get.

Re: '79 Trailfire No Spark
I was also wondering if a cdi for a 1980 Trailfire would work on my '79. It seems like it should, because I thought they have the same engine.

With the red wire to ground, I got 141.2 ohms. Starting to think its the cdi at fault. What do you think?

Re: 75 JDX8 Tunnel crack
Does you JDX8 have an aluminum tunnel? If so it could be welded and it would not look to bad and it would be cheaper, but depends on what you want.

Re: '79 Trailfire No Spark
Thanks for the help Matt, I did a continuity test the other day on the wires for the pulsar and exciter coils and found that they are grounded is this a sign that they are shorted?

Re: '79 Trailfire No Spark
Thanks Matt for the info, but do you have to remove the engine and flywheel to do the tests or can it be done by checking the exposed wire leads? Also do you know how to remove a stuck clutch from the motor without damaging it?
