They're in most of the old snowmobile literature in the accessories section. Not much to them, just marine plywood on a steel frame with everything painted black including the wheels in the JDX days. Yellow and black Leaping Deere decals most of the way towards the front on the short steel sides of the trailer. No idea who made them but they look like most of the standard trailers of the day with JD decals. 1 7/8 ball hitch I'd bet.

Iv'e got pics of the orig. 73 trailer.
Mom & Dad bought 2 new 72 400's & trailer in the day.
I'll find the pics over X-mas.
It was green with yellow steel.
Rusted in a few years.
The poles slid over the skiis, right behind the end of the loop
of the ski grab handles.

The John Deere trailers I saw ( when new ) were made by NOMANCO of North Manchester, IN. I believe they've been bought out by NOVAE, a company our EDC has worked with to buy a building in Columbia City. NOMANCO trailers, while steel, were very good.

I bought a new JD sled trailer in 1974. It was JD green, had skinny little 4.80X8 tires and was made by Snowco Co. which at the time was a short line Ag equipment manufacturer in Nebraska.

I got to thinking about this subject. I wonder what the chances are that manufacturers of trailers made a "John Deere" trailer much like pull behind sleigh manufacturers did?? Just a thought.

Here is a picture of a trailer I bought this summer. This trailer was made by The Snow Company out of Nebraska. Story goes, I saw this trailer 3 years ago sitting outside with a covered snowmobile on it. I found out who owned it and contacted him to see if he would like to sell it. He wasn't ready. I didn't want to be a pest, but I contacted him a few more times. He said he would let me know if he wanted to sell it. So there it sat outside for 3 years until I stopped by him this summer. I asked if I could look at the snowmobile again. When I looked at it, the cover was sun rotted exposing the seat. I went to tell him if he wasn't going to sell me the snowmobile and trailer, to please put a new cover on so he doesn't ruin the seat. He then gave me a price, and the rest is history. The snowmobile is a 1980 Sportfire with 407 miles. Here are some pictures to share.

That black trailer is about the same one I have. "I think" mine is from 74 based on the pic of the JDX's in the manual. Nice find!

I don't think any of them had yellow wheels, but certain people tend to get creative with paint. Can't tell if it's a JD but it's definitely old.
