What Year is it?

Post by Snowslider »

Hey guys just curious how to tell what year a sled is. I always thought that if the plate said it was manufactured 06/1975 that it was a 1975 but now people have told me that it was made for the 1976 riding year so its a 1976.

So my question is are all models that were made in 1975 a 1976 or is there a month when its considered the next year? For example if a sled was made in 01/1975 is that considered a 1976?

Thx

All John Deere snowmobiles are manufactured 1 year before their model year.So if you tunnel says 1975 its model year is 1976.

Snow,

Ed is correct. For the winter of 75/76, the new sleds would be called "76 Model Year" and built in the fall of 75. There should be an FAQ about that too.

There are exceptions, like early or late release sleds. An example is the early built Snow and Sprintfire's built in October of 81, for a late into the 1982 model year. But, in the brochures Deere called them "1983's" or "The first 83 sleds."

I hope this helps,
-Joe

The production sleds were all manufactured in August, September, and October of the calendar year previous to the model year.
