1980 Arctic Cat Jag 3000

Post by johnnycyclone »

I'm going to call this my "find of the year". No it's not a race sled, muscle sled, or a low number build sled. But it's a really nice clean well taken care of sled, with about 1700 miles on it. The tunnel and pan are near perfect, the seat is perfect, and the hood only has one minor crack. The track is in very good condition, with no cracking or dry rotting. It has electric start, and oil injection that actually works. Everything on the sled looks real good. It was used primarily up north at an older gentleman's cabin, except for the last few years. It also came with 5 quarts of oil, 2 boxes of cleats, with hardware, and a real nice cover. All for $50. After seeing the sled, I thought for sure the ad must have been wrong, and they would want more, but it wasn't. I'm going to keep this one, and maybe do a little detailing, and mechanical work on it. I'm thinking it will make a nice sled for my wife to ride, if she ever wants to try it again. She cleaned up pretty good just by washing it.

It looks good when it's still wet from washing it, but it's a little rough, so I decided to put a little time and money in to it. Just finished up the hood, more to come later. I'm not doing a full resto, just some detailing.

Save some money Paul. This one will be for sale, at the end of the season. Sometimes dreams do come true.

Excellent choice there Paul.
Bulletproof engine, oil injection and very well built.

Only way to top it is the rare 81 4000 JAG.

I was very mistaken over these past years about the JAG sled I grew up on, I thought it was a 79....nope. It was an 80 and i gotta have one...might unload lots of sleds for a mint 1980...

No other sled can touch my heart strings like the JAG I grew up on, which was my uncles and they still have it and wont budge yet. I havent seen that sled since 1984 ish....?? I dont think it has been out of the stable either, its under covers, locks and keys...just 3 miles away...

The 80/81 does look better than the 79.

And the seat is way cooler.

She even has electric start.

My cousin had the free air model, and I thought it was a pretty cool sled back then.

The 75 Jag has the most bueatiful seat Cat ever scuplted.

A buddy has a 77 3000 FA that he put twin Miks and tuner pipes on and it is a rocket and a half.

Johnny yours is a fanner right?
