Our Summertime Toys

Post by Ryker Carruthers »

During the summer we go to many steam tractor shows with our models and after we restore the full size engines they will go with us too, video of our half scale 65 horsepower case: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoEt3EPV5Xk
and another of it in a tractor pull:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=au9VkvsWj3A
our 1/4 scale 65 horsepower case on the fan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JB0AuqMlYRM
and pictures of our full size engines: The 1914 65 horsepower case http://cdn.homemodelenginemachinist.com ... 880-1-.jpg
and the next picture was taken in 1958 and is of our 1918 20 horse advance rumely that grandpa ran from the 20's to 42 when he was drafted into WWII, it took 40 years and it had been sold many times but we found it and bought it back and brought it home http://cdn.homemodelenginemachinist.com ... 684-1-.jpg
The smokestack on it isnt correct we had another one cast.
We also play with the old 1/2a control line airplanes with the .049 cox engines.

And we thought we had a hard time finding parts for our projects.

Wow... 100 years old and half the size.

Fantastic piece of ole iron you have there.

Most of the time if parts are missing we have to fabricate new ones or weld on whatever is broken, and let me tell you welding cast iron is not fun at all. the two smaller ones were machined from castings. We have all the patterns for the smaller model and alot of castings in stock but not a complete set yet. Yep, sled parts are much easyer to find.

Ryker,
Thanks for sharing the pictures - I really like your scale 65 HP Case! That's really awsome that you were able to track down your Grandfather's Advance Rumley - very nice! Please share any restoration pictures when you have some.
Thank-You for joining us here on the forum and sharing your other hobbies with us!
