I'm not sure what's happening here, from the service manual the strap with the 2 bolts welded to it for motor mounts has no bend in it. From what I can tell this is where it is supposed to go. Fits perfect but with the bend in the strap the one bolt is too short, and it won't tighten up against anything. I don't remember because dissassembly was so long ago.... Any ideas?

Re: '76 cyclone motor mount...
The piece of strap-steel needs to be flat / straightened out. There is also a small carridge bolt down thru the top of the aluminum piece to hold the strap piece in place.

I just find it odd because if I straighten it the length will change and it will not fit. It looks too nice to not be factory… the square hole lines up perfectly with the aluminum piece for the carriage bolt

Re: '76 cyclone motor mount...
Here are a few pics from a 76 Liquifire, Cyclone should be the same. Hope this helps.
I would straighten out the strap first. The hole in the strap is offset to one side, so you may have to rotate it 180 degrees to get it to line up.
If the center to center dimension of the bolts is to wide after you straighten it then I would think something is wrong with the bolts. It looks like the correct one, but it shouldn't have the bend in it.

Re: '76 cyclone motor mount...
Great explaination, I missed that fact that the mounting hole is off-set.

Re: '76 cyclone motor mount...
I have had the same thing happen ,as u lift the engine out somtimes u may set it down, and the carriage bolt Pat is refering to holds this bracket in place .Then the bolt binds in the motor mount, thus we now have what looks like a perfect bend.Hope this helps .Brock

Re: '76 cyclone motor mount...
Mine looks way different. maybe another pic will be posted. that darn bolt....
the one by driven clutch. I see the point but those pics look like front bolts that go through bellypan.

Brock that makes perfect sense. Sometimes it's hard to see the obvious, and you spend an exorbitant amount of time looking for a part that doesn't exist…
