loose Cylinder Head Stud

Post by flacker36 »

I'm putting back together my 72 500 and noticed one of my cylinder headstuds is loose (looks like the threads in the cylinder are stripped out), the stud itself is fine. Any way of fixing this (locktite, drill/tap to a bigger stud etc...) other than getting a new cylinder??

Any help would be great!!

That is a great way to fix the threads. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, take it to a machine shop that works on engines. They should have the tools and inserts.
