I was hoping to make more updates but lack of time, energy, and high speed internet have slowed me down.

Great times guys.

DA, what a great poker ride. Just a great day, how many attended the ride, had to be 30 sleds. The HOF was awesome especially with the bon fire at the end of the day. Over all a great day with friends.

Vintage Challenge ride was awesome. Very cold to start. My truck read -15 and then as I made my way to the Whitetail, it got as low as -22 with the wind speed. Lots of snow, no wind although the cold made the snow blow up on the trail.

I believe 20 people started and 17 finished. My opinion is it was the fastest pace, hard core riding in the years I have been attending. Again my opinion but we just flat torn into it. Of the 17 there was 8 deeres (check that for confirmation). First out was a pair of Artic Cats. With the exception of a few on trail adjustments the deeres were very strong all day long and everyone finished with little doubt.

Trails were very good, although that last stretch coming home between Bents Camp and Sayner gets really rough (morning is fine but coming back through after a day of heavy traffic that trail just gets trashed). This has occured the past 2 years, Joe maybe bring up to the HOF crew to see if a different route is possible. Just a bruttle way to end the ride.

Brian has to take the trophy. Brian can just flat out ride his X8 like no one else. Brian you are an inspriation.

Wade your wife is a rock star. Only female that I know of that has completed the challenge. Wade quite a week for you! You deserve all of the fun and good fortune.

Dustin: so you now have it checked off your list. Hope you join again, your mechanic abilities are much appreciated. Plus the ice on your face is pretty funny.

Chris: awesome riding. Anxious for you next year.

Stamy (sp?). Your dator was awesome and never blinked the entire trip. That is pretty darn awesome to have a dator run hard and long and never blink. That is the way it should be. Your son has special talent on that Sprintfire. He is really good at only 14, just make sure he respects the machine, things can turn bad really quick. Hey if possible it would be awesome to see some of your helmet cam video?

Joe: Awesome guiding, everyone made it back, few breakdowns and delays. As a guide I guess it is your responsbility to blaze the trail and identify hazards. :)

Thanks guys. I had an absolute blast and while I a sure tomorrow I will be a little sore, I am already excited for next year. Hope all of us and more from the site can do it again.

Just returned home from another great adventure with the JDSleds gang. We flat out have a great time!

The Wife and I did the poker run on Friday, the trails were awesome. Stymie ( Tod Meyer ) was playing his helmet cam footage of the poker run Friday night at the fish fry. Great footage of four of us sliding backwards down a hill. :bonk:

Saturday morning was very cold, but the e-start on the X-8 did start it, Sunday morning it would not. 15-20 below this morning.

I'll write up a full report, but yes the X-8 did finish for the 5th time. The VC was long and hard, it always is. I was impressed by the Deere rider's preparedness. Matt didn't mention that his Dator clone ran well ( by my observation ), and it appeared he was having a good time with it.

It was hard getting loaded up and going this morning, but Tod and Joe helped us get the sleds loaded, then Tod and I helped Joe get his sleds in the trailer and get hitched up. We left around 10 am, and when we got home, it was 20 degrees here, and felt like summer.

Most of us didn't have to run in slush this year, although Dustin will say otherwise, and the temps ( while probably the coldest we have ever rode in up at the RWTC ), really weren't a problem.

Great weekend, great folks, great time!

Oh, and here's a shot taken at Sayner on the way back. Some explanation will be in order.

Um, I think a picture says a thousand words.........no explanation needed. I recognize wood poisoning when I see it.

You guys go easy on JDJR as he obviously was making a bulkhead adjustment to realign things after hitting that rock at the I-500.

You know he had trouble turning left it just need a little tweak.

And he finished. Good job Joe.

guys, joe lends himself generously to picking on and abuse , but this really could have been bad , i know he was having glasses issues to begin with. eye witnesses say he took a bad bounce off of a piece of firewood or something in the middle of the rough and was tossed into the path of a tree .we were at the back of the pack and missed seeing the collision . im sure we will all have a good time with this jdjrism but we seriously need to be glad nobody was hurt, even joe !! wade

Matt, it was great to meet you. I counted 22 JDs on the poker run. There had to be at least 50-60 sleds total I think?

My photos will be coming possibly tomorrow night. I left my camera out in the truck, and I'm comfy & warm in a hotel room.

I bet that footage is pretty good. From my vantage point I didn't get to see much of it unfold, but it was a pretty gut wrenching feeling when I realized the track was spinning and I was going backwards. Glad no one was hurt in that deal.

Later in the weekend I was told that a group of kids on modern sleds (that happened to see the incident) said "watch this" and had an even bigger mess than we did at that spot.
