You never know what you will find in Grandpa's shed

Post by ihengineer76 »

I found these when I was helping Grandpa do a little organization today. All are unopened and still seem like they are good yet. I am not sure if the silver is the 79 or 80's formula. I will crack one can open and mix up a small batch and spray it this weekend to see if it is still good and what color it is. Pretty cool either way.

I got an original black spray can with my 76 Liquifire and honestly the paint just doesn't keep, colour actually went more grey then black. Best to just leave the cans whole unless there's already an open one. I'd give you $20 for a can just to put on my shelf!

Thanks for the complements on the Olds. Its mine, but grandpa does have a really nice 70 Buick GSX Stage1. My Olds has a built up aluminum head 362 small block Olds with all forged internals in it.

I'm torn but I have to go with the GSX.

As for the paint I would think that the label would say WFII if it was for the later years.

I've been an Olds guy all my life. Yours is a sweet ride. Is it a 75? My first car was a candy apple red 75 Cutlass S.
Replaced it with a 84 Hurst/Olds

But your Gramps Buick would be one really nice ride.

Thanks! Its a 74 Supreme. The 73-75 Cutlasses don't seem very common anymore. My first car was a 72 Buick Skylark.

Had never seen a gnx til I went to my first Buick nationals in bowling green ky. There was a row of a dozen gnxs mostly yellow but a couple white ones in the mix. Beautiful sight.

Olds all the way! Had a red 70 442 and a 70 Cutlass SX before the kids came along, can't wait to get another after they get a little older. Thinking Rally red (orange) or Viking blue 442 this time around. You can't beat them for looks or power, the 455 Rocket motors have a ton of torque.

I really like the Viking Blue.

On the original note, I cracked open one of the cans of paint, and it looks like Winterfrost II I put a small sample on a paint stick and will see what it looks like when it is dry. The paint seemed just fine. It needed a lot of stirring as the color solids had settled out, but I wouldn't be afraid to mix up a batch with it and spray it. I have an 82 Trailfire that may just be the prime candidate this summer.
