Those decals are illegal to reproduce. It would be like making new vin # plates for cars.

The "certified" decal is being made or at least "was" being made. I bought one for my first restoration. It was someone in Pennsylvania. As to the VIN one I've always had the sandblaster cover it and they come out undamaged.

The sand blaster guy that I go to says use heavy duct tape on anything I don't want blasted. Maybe 2 layers and tell him to watch them close.

I don't see why they would be Ed. Its not like the serial number is actually printed on the decal. All that is printed is the manufacturing date.Deere Daze wrote:Those decals are illegal to reproduce. It would be like making new vin # plates for cars.

Re: ANY ONE MAKEING THESE DECALS??
I looked into getting these decals reproduced and (In Canada + the US) both decals are Federal Safety Certification + Licensing Numbers. The only people who can legally make and issue these are companies licensed by the Federal Government and that is only IF you have all the legal lawyer and proper documents and have the vehicle pre inspection done at a licensed Government Facility. If you look at anyone reproducing snowmobile decals, you will never see any of them offering these decals as this would land them in jail for a very long time and its just not worth it. Anyone in their right mind wouldn't risk making these for the couple bucks someone is willing to pay anyways. Feel free to look into it also but I'm sure you will get the same answers I did. Its really to bad, we put all this work into restoration's and we have to put up with a worn out vin decal ...

Looks like Engineered Graphics is making them for at least the '81 sleds. I bet they have or can make others.

Re: ANY ONE MAKEING THESE DECALS??
If blank vin decals were legal to "sell" , I'm sure John Deere would of offered new ones in the parts catalog/diagram along with all the other decals.
Re: ANY ONE MAKEING THESE DECALS??
I have a sled that has a hand written vin decal sticker on it ,it was a warranty tunnel (unstamped). So i am sure Deere had vin decals to put on warranty issue tunnels ! Brock

Re: ANY ONE MAKEING THESE DECALS??
I can't answer everything but I have spent the time and money looking into it and only can tell you what I found out and was told .Not one of my NOS tunnels have a blank Vin decal on it, only the tunnel decals. I think that the manufacturer would have to file the proper paperwork with the government before they could issue another chassis with the same vin# that has been already issued/sold. Deere would have had blank vin decals for warranty tunnel issues only, not to offer to the general public for free use as the customer would deem fit.
