RE: M66848 & M68313 Support, Snow Flap

Post by Grumpy »

What is the diference between the M66848 & M68313 Snow Flap Supports? Is It that the M66848 is made from tube & the M68313 is made of rod? Will the M66848 work for a repopped replacement for the M68313?
Would it make any difference to you guys IF the M66848 Snow Flap Supports were 1 MM larger OD, Trying to find a tube that has a thicker wall thickness..

Harley is the offset so different that the older one won't fit the new sleds?
is the newer support made from Tubing or Wire/Rod?
jdrob,Can anyone of you guys DHL or Fedex me a NOS or very good & straight M68313 support? Shipping won't be cheap but IF you guy's want the newer one repopped now is the time to send it over here while I'm still here, I'm leaving Oct 8th.. If sent DHL or Fedex it should be here in 4 days??
IF anyone can send one, I can get you an address for them to send it to so I can get it..

Kenny I would ship 1 in a heart beat if I had 1 . If anyone has an NOS 1 that can ship it to Kenny I will help out for the shipping over. The support for the fire series is a solid core rod. Thanks Jdrob :usa:

The early ones bolt on to the later sleds. I have an early Cyclone bar on my '80 Liquifire. The flap is angled out to far.

Rob, do you mean the first generation Liquifire/Cyclone ones?
Duane; The 1 for the newer fire series sleds like the gen 2 Liquifire, sportfire, and trailfire.

Like Pat said, the older style on the newer sleds makes the flap stick out way to far. :usa:

Is the inverse true as well then? A gen 2 support on a gen 1 sled doesn't stick out far enough?

Pat do you have a way to measure what the difference is? Would it be possible to split the difference to make 1 that will work for both? Would people even be interested in one that is close but not exact to OEM?

Hey Guys ,I spoke w Kenny last nt,11:00 pm my time 10:00 am his time.Wow it really isnt a small world. But anyways i was gonna send him a nos 68313 for the template for the repops, but a buddy of mine builds alot of stuff w 1/4 inch rod. So i called him and he said he could build those for us for around 10 to 15 bucks ea. We have to do at least 50 pcs, might save us a few $ if we can do 100. I will repost as soon as i get this going .Kenny is still gonna do the tubular style over there. By the time we would get these back from Nam we will have shipping and import taxes Duties etc.So these will be cheaper this way. He didnt want to do the tubular style because of the stamping process to get the strength in them. I will keep u all posted as soon as i learn more.As well as take orders who all wants them. Thanks Brock
