If you have a genuine 340 RS/2 engine, you have an engine that was used only in the JD 340/S race sled.

It ran Mikuni carbs, a two into one tuned pipe, A 102C Comet clutch, and a Prestolite CDI ignition.

It was rated at 47 hp.

If it is a free air it wont be from a Deere, most likely a scorpion. Pics would help in identifying it.

There should be two tags on the fan tower. Looking at the engine from the exhaust manifold side, there should be two tags on the fan housing. The top one will be riveted on to the fan shroud. It will read KEC340/RS-2 and have a serial number stamped on it. That stamped number should match a number stamped in the lower half of the crank case on the exhaust side. There will be another tag below the fan that reads something to the effect "Manufactured for John Deere by Kioritz". The engine I have in a John Deere 340/S has GLO-86 or 8G cast into the clutch end. Also my engine serial number is 4200220.

ccw kec 340 rs I have had one guy say this motor may have been converted from a fan to free air which is what it is a f/A with straight head fins so I am getting a variety of different answers I like the one that says jd race engine 47 h.p. that is what will push me to put it in one of my vintage racers the motor also has twin stubb head pipes 4 inchs long not a two into one set up so more opinions are better ski roule maybe raider ? jd merc any others it may have been made for I am still leaning towards jd race sled maybe the jd team made it a F/A ?

that is what I have been told at one point but they said it was a fan other guy said it was converted to a F/A either way seems like a rare motor I have another that is slighty used got both for400.00 the other has no 4 inch twin pipe stubbs or coils if 47 hp I would be in business my 77 tx pol 340 F/a is right there at 48.7 I have read and the ports on this kec are huge a little bigger than my fast trail race porting I just got done on my 340 tx motor I just looked it has points maybe a gran prix sled the old guys brother used to run them and sell them

CCW was just the importer, Kioritz was the manufacturer.

A photo would help clear things up.

Keep in mind that no matter what this engine is, parts are most likely not available.
