Opinions on this cyclone??

Post by fastl82vette »

http://rockford.craigslist.org/sno/4202074621.html

I'm thinking about looking at this and was wanting some opinions. I am just looking to have something to ride around the house and have a little fun on. What is it going to cost for a whole new seat? I talked to the guy on the phone and he said he raced it. I never asked what kind of racing but is that something to be conserned about as far as the motor haveing extra wear and tear? It also appears to have a little crinkle in the belly pan on the front left corner. He says everything works as it should. I also forgot to ask how many miles it has.
Would $400 be a good offer on it or is that low ball? Thanks for any input!! :beers;

In my opinion that is a pretty clean looking Cyclone.

Around here 400 might not buy it, But it would be a decent starting point.

Why do you need a new seat?

Haven't you left yet?

Go snatch it up before some kid buys it and wrecks it.

Tape on front left ski shows drag raced. No big deal. Agree with Todd, why have you not left yet. Beautiful sled , pay the 500. It's a bargain.

It is not the original seat and I just thought that it looked too nice to have a homemade seat on it.

Well, I picked it up. It's not as nice as the pictures made it seem, but I talked him down some. The track looks pretty good. The paint job was rattle bombs. The skis have a little slop in them. The speedo is stuck and it reads 2900 miles. The brakes pretty much aren't there. And it looks like it had been lightly rear ended at some time and poorly repaired. It's a runner though.

Just a heads up... a non functional speedo is often an indicator of a failed/failing drive shaft bearing on the right side.

Oh well. It's good enough to bang ditches and have a little fun on. After getting it home I thought I prolly shouldn't have bought it, but we've all been there before.

Well if she runs and is basically all there then at least you have a good start. Any 20 + year old sled is going to need some TLC. My 78 Liquifire "ran" when I bought it last spring for $625 but it needed both new pistons. To me bringing these old sleds of my youth back to sound running shape is half the fun. Besides I bought far newer sleds (2000 THUNDER CAT MC a few years back) that blew the engine within 200 miles of me owning it plus lots of reclutching to get it trailable,yep that was a pricy love affair!! :wall: Liquifire has been FAR cheaper and easier to work on plus has a lot more charicter! :beers;

You are starting out way ahead compared to the cyclone I have.
I do have a speedo and cable if you want. You may also want to find an air box for it
