Two words: Replace Engine
Oh five more words: Use old engine for boat anchor

I was looking today at the engine gasket kits from new breed. Does anyone know, are those kits a complete gasket set that I would need to rebuild this motor?

Yes, the gasket sets are complete, but take the motor the rest of the way apart to see if your crank is any good.

And what if the crank isn't good, and what would be wrong with the crank potentially.

Wiseco also makes kit for them too. It's just a top end kit but all you need to order separately is crank seals.

Sledhead your engine sat exposed to the enviroment for a period of time and that allowed the enviroment inside your crankcase.

You see the ice. You know water is in there. There will also be dirt, sand and anything else the wind or water brought in with it.

Complete teardown of the motor is a must and then through cleaning and inspection. Only then will you know if it is salvageable.

Rusted crank and/or rod bearings will dictate if the crank is toast or is rebuildable.

I have actually seen case halves broken from the expansion of water when it froze.

If you think you can get away with a gasket kit you are just fooling yourself.

Well you are correct. Time and money are required.

How much money will be learned once you have completed tear down and inspection.

If you find that it is too far gone that a used engine may be the answer.

What about the rest of the sled?
