80/83 Upgrade

Post by Liquifried »

Just getting this done. I picked up a VGC 83 LF that hit a curb and had a damaged frame a couple years ago. I parted out the sled and was going to use on another 83 LF project. Instead of restoring the 83 or chasing an 84, I decided to upgrade my 80 with an 83 set up.

This year I did a complete motor tear down, new pistons, gaskets, and seals. New drive bearings, all new suspension, electric start, 82-84 head light, TR800 Clutch / Secondary, 83 Dash / Radiator. Added the plastic ski set up last year. Best improvement to a vintage sled you can make IMO. Handling is great! Sled has about 2500 miles on it. Added a NOS speedo with the new motor. Need to get the battery and install the side vent grille. Just got the first 30 miles on it. A work in progress.......

Awesome looking sled! Maybe you should put the 83 tank on there with the latching door?
Hopefully you still saved the 83 tunnel so someone can build it up someday..
Many new and used parts available, I ship anywhere. Thanks everyone.

Thanks! Your shafts are in the skid!

Oops I guess my skid pic did not upload. Yes, the tunnel went to a member in Ohio for FREE!!!!

I do have a bunch of latch tanks, just lazy and did not want to swap out pick up and clean out :bonk: My gloves are in the glove box propping the video. It does close nicely
