New Deere snowmobile helmets

Post by liquifireguy »

I've been kicking around for the last couple of weeks that I need a new vintage style helmet for my 1980 Liquifire. I have my good, full face helmet that I use on my A/C, but I have a vintage snowmobile suit that I use when I'm playing with the Deeres and I use my old, open face helmet. It is a generic helmet from the 70's that the foam has hardened in. I think that it would be really cool to have the vintage Deere helmets reproduced, or maybe have a decal supplier make the decals to put on a black open face helmet. I see that there are suppliers for the vintage style helmets, but none that I could find that make Deere helmets. Just wondering if anyone has done this yet or if someone is already making them. Thanks, Jeff

Not exactly the same thing, but I sent my old race helmet away to be refurbished. The interior was junk. No, I won't be using it but just the same I wanted it to look nice.

I tried to contact these guys but never got a response. It looks like they did nice work though. I, as well, would like to have one done.

You are going to post photos of Rachel holding that helmet (like some of the ones on their site) when she's done........right?

Since dubs is working on this let's just say a local graphics company for now. Honestly I think the flames and antlers could have been better on mine, but we were running out of time. I picked the helmet up from them at about 9:30 PM (6 hours before leaving for the 2013 HOF ride)

I have things underway on the helmet. I talked to a place that does truck lettering and graphics this morning and they said that it wouldn't be a problem for them to do it. I ordered a new black Bell vintage style open face helmet off Ebay, which looks identical to the original and even has the chrome trim. As soon as I receive the helmet, the decals will be put on by the graphics place. Hopefully, it will look like the one in the picture, as I think this will look cool with my Liquifire. I'll post pictures when it's done. I am also going to have a couple of little "extras" done to customize it. Between the helmet cost and the graphics, should cost about $150-160. I will put the Super Seer double visor that I have on my old helmet (which is a generic helmet from the late 70's) on it. I have always been very happy with the visor because it never fogs up. Jeff

Jeff,

I've done many restorations of old Bell race helmets and retro graphics on new helmets, mostly JD stuff. Did an antler helmet for John Rainville a couple of years ago for the HOF ride.

Currently in the processing of relocating and my new paint shop probably won't be ready until later this summer. I'll try to locate pics of previously painted helmets. Also might have a left over JD Antler helmet like Rainville's but I'd have to check. Let me know if you are interested.

Jim

Poor Rainville. He is never going to live this down! If you haven't crashed, you've never found the true limits of your machine!

Matt is correct, we have been working on a JD helmet.

I will have "corrected" graphics this week? Matt kindly pointed out that the Deere doesn't run backwards! LOL

The deere helmet will probably not be available publicly due to lawyers.........

Here is a picture with the backwards deer.

This is a all new helmet. New shell, new paddding, dot approved.

If there is a newer design that you guys are interested in, let me know.

Thanks!
