Hey Joe that was GREAT to watch! Stan Hays would have liked that 583 under the hood way back when.
Have you done any kind of speed run yet to see how fast that light sled is?

I have the same JD Cyclone coat that you do. I bought NEW as a kid one year and the next year I went and ordered the matching zip on to the coat pants and I still have the complete Cyclone suit. Its in very good condition.

Later
1st-1976 440 Cyclone: Owned 1979 then sold same year
2nd-1980 440 Sportfire: Owned 1982-1984 --Bought from uncle (220 miles)
3rd-1983 440 Liquifire: Owned 1983 and sold same year for profit (1000 miles)
4th-1981 440 Sportfire: Owned 2011 and still have (331 original miles until I put 3 on it, now 336)
5th- Still looking for

That LED headlight gets a lot of attention and works awesome! As far as speed run .... nothing official. I has a heck of a hole shot and pulls the skis
for a distance. I made a few straight away lake runs with Ross's 700 triple in that Yamaha and seemed to be closely matched.
I'll post a video of it doing a hole shot soon........

As far as the coat goes ... I wear it all the time. It is in great shape as well. I have the pants and vest to go with it. I have people come up to me
in gas stations etc. asking where I got it, I would like to buy one? They don't believe me that it is 35 years old!

Video of my Son and I coming off the Horicon Marsh. As we get into town, John Deere Horicon Works is on the left along the Rock River.

That LFII is one awesome sled Joe!! And to be riding it next to the Horicon Works where the originals were tested and built has got to be very gratifying for you. 8)

Thanks guys ....... Back then there were lots of sleds from Deere running that marsh.
Now a days very few sleds ride it or anything else as far as that goes.
I told my son he would like riding the river and marsh on his 450 Honda and he loves it!
He and his friend drove it a number of times these last two weeks. I wish I had toys like this when I was 16

WOW!!!!!!!! I haven't been on the site for a while, never saw this build until now. You did an awesome job, I am very impressed with the attention to detail that was followed through with the entire project! Love that chaincase cover. Funny thing is, I just went through many of the exact same problems. :roll: It was like deja vu when I saw that y-pipe chopped up. :shock: I did a much less clean version of a '80 liquifire with a 670 and 151x2" track. :beers;

Last weekend .......After about 500 miles on this thing last year I pulled the chain case cover to see what is up with all the metal shavings stuck to the dipstick magnet. I was expecting the worse ..... to my surprise after it was all cleaned up it I found nothing wrong??? No signs of chain wear etc? I have had guys telling me this is normal so I hope it is. I then replaced the broken limiter front suspension strap I had made with the original and it is ready for the HOF ride. Don't forget to ask me and I will let you ride it at the event if you would like!

That's normal in the chaincase Joe. Everytime I check the chaincase oil level there are at least a few shavings.
