Does anyone know the proper jetting for 6000 feet and above for my Sportfire? Taking it to get new crank seals today. Lots of oil coming out the exhaust pipe when running, so I want new jets in the carb also.
I guess I need:
Pilot jet
power jet
main jet,..... and what ever else you know that I need for high altitude.
Then this will be set back up on it's table. I start it once a month, just because.
Thanks

Re: High Altitude jetting
Ammon,
The owners manual and service manuals should have jetting info. I also think I have hi-alt kits for Sportfires up in NY, and I will be up there this weekend. I will check my manuals for the jetting info later tonight.

Re: High Altitude jetting
Funny, but the operators manual said to see your local John Deere dealer for altitude above 4,000 feet. Guessing that would not be much help, so I checked the service manual. Above 6,000 feet it said:
Below 0, 180 Main
Above 0, 170 main, 170 power jet, 6F27-3 Jet Needle, 159-Q needle Jet, 3.0 throttle valve and a 25 pilot jet.
I do have an extra Sportfire service manual for sale, but you can buy all the manuals for that sled new from Deere still. $20 plus shipping if you want mine.
I hope this helps,
-Joe
