Barn find
Re: Barn find
Hmmm, looks like a sled from the 1975 I500, came in 15th I believe. I like the twist grip and 75 Sask plate.

Re: Barn find
I posted a picture of a 340/s barn find. It did have a license plate from Saskatchewan. After posting the picture I started receiving texts from some Canadians that were unhappy about taking sleds out of Canada. I did realize that there are lots of people that think the sleds should stay where they are found. What's found in Michigan should stay in Michigan etc. So out of respect to all my Canadian Friends I pulled the picture...... Yes, I did receive lots of support also, telling me that the only thing that separates us is the border and we all bleed green....... Personally I don't care where the sleds come from or where they go as long as they are saved from the scrapper. Once again , Sorry Guys.

Re: Barn find
Ok, just to clarify a couple things here. All I did was post a picture without any wording attached to it. Received some text s about taking sleds out of Canada. I never said I bought it but they just assumed I did and were not happy about it......Now, for the rest of the story...........We knew about this sled existing about 6 years now. The picture I posted was of the sled in the back of the truck going to the new Buyer. The new Owner.........Are you ready for this?............Is the Guy that owned it originally and raced it. Yes its going back home and staying in Saskatchewan. Doesn't get any cooler than that. I did have a long conversation with the Gentleman about what he wanted to do with it and why he got it back. Its all about his memories of his racing days and wants to put it back together so he can ride it once again. I did offer my services to help supply him with the parts needed to get it done so that it doesn't go back in that barn and fade away like many other sleds. I do not need this sled but I will do what I can to help the Man out as this is a very special sled........................Few people know about the Owner and this sled but hope you can keep this info to yourself to respect the privacy of the Owner...........................
Thank You
Thank You

Re: Barn find
That's very cool that the original owner is going to rebuild it. Looks like a great project for him.
Also - the same pickup truck it may have been hauled in back in the day?

Re: Barn find
You have been asking for information on the Canadian John Deere snowmobile racing, so we did some digging.
Getting the engine apart with the help of the Mrs. ! - got one piston loose with a smaller hammer. How big a hammer can you use before damage is done ? Having trouble getting the second one off.

Re: Barn find
I cleaned up some posts from this topic because I was contacted by the person who sent the text to Chuck. He meant it as a joke, and apologizes for the misunderstanding.
