For those who haven't been watching the other thread, I found an '84 Sportfire that was about to be scrapped. Here is what is NOT there: hood, bellypan, suspension, airbox, and seat. The tunnel is rough - lots of holes drilled around the front mounting area. Tunnel appears to be straight though. The gas tank/toolbox lid and gas cap need replacing. Everything has sat out in the weather (Northern Utah - very dry climate). The sled appears to have very high miles, the speedo reads 9600+km's which I think equals 5800 miles. Track looks to be in good shape. Bulkhead/skis look straight. Engine turns over and I was told the jugs had been re sleeved. I know guys will want parts here and there, but I'd like to start by trying to sell the thing as whole for a MAJOR restoration project. I'd rather not take the time and $$$ to build a crate for shipping but I could be talked into it. I make NO guarantees on ANY part - I just picked it up from a guy. Open to offers for the whole deal first and then for individual parts. I'm not looking make a million dollars here but I do have time, money, and miles invested. Give me a call at 435-890-0238 or email matt_ruder@hotmail.com Looking for best offer to fund other projects. This sled is in Northern Utah. Thanks.

Re: '84 JD Sportfire parts
Matt,
Nice job rounding up the rest of that sled and offering it to the Deere collectors. While a pretty good challenge, that Sportfire can be saved with some hard work. I even have a used 84 Sporty hood I can bring to Hay Days if the buyer of this sled wants it cheap.
Deere only built 371 Sportfires for 1984, so even one this rough is worth the effort.

PS: The air box is unique to the Sportfire, but the TPR side panels are shared with Trailfires. An 80-84 Liquifire skid with a Sport or Trailfire rear arm is correct for this sled.

OK guys... I've learned that to ship JUST the tunnel, would be about $160 (don't remember the zip, but figure the lower 48). Even though the thing weighs like 10 lbs.
Big picture, I could start parting out the thing, but I'd really rather just have someone come pick it up and restore a true '84. $250 takes all of what I have now. I would rather have my time and shop space vs. parting out the thing to make a few bucks.
So come make a fall trip to the Rockies and pick it up!!! Otherwise, this survivor will be scattered around as spare parts! Lodging at my house (beer, breakfast, nice view of the mountains, and shop) included.
Again, feel free to call.
Thanks.

Help me out here guys! I want this out of my shop. I'm willing to start parting this out. I don't remember the guys name (either in PA or NY) who called me and asked if I'd be willing to cut the serial # area out of the tunnel. I'm now willing to do that. Ideally, someone would take all of this and restore it. I've got too many projects to handle. Call me at 435-890-0238. I have a buddy who's going to Ironwood, MI and Eagle River to race in January. I could probably have him haul everything. I think he's stopping in MN first.
And one more thing...NO TEXTS. I have all those blocked.
Thanks,
Matt

If you can get your buddy to haul it I am interested.
Old sleds are hours of entertainment.... then you get to ride them for a little bit.
