A 28mm Mikuni will work with proper jetting. It involes more than just the carb though as you will need to change the choke and add a fuel pump.

A similar sized Walbro will work fine also.

The Walbro used a standard cable to hook up the choke butterfly.

The Mikuni uses a different type cable all together so you would need to replace the cable assy.

Others have made this conversion so someone may offer up jetting combination that is proven.

Lacking that you can use known jetting from a different make around 300cc and be fairly close.

Whatever size other makes use on a 300 cc motor will work on yours.

I would think a 28mm would be fine, considering the 30mm was used on 340 CC free air JDs.

so far it looks like a mikuni vm 32 is what is used on 300cc engines now I have to find out how to jet it . On the other hand I took my walbro wdb 31 the rebuild shop they found nothing wrong with it I installed it on the engine it started but died out still I changed the metering arm adjustment and tried again. I got it to start again but will not idle and ides when I open choke also when I open the throttle. so I think the mikuni is the way to go Jeff
