The 440 top end fits right on a standard 340 Liquidator bottom end cases. I believe the stock 340cc crank would also be used, along with the ignition, coolant pump, etc. Think of the 340/440 Liquifire from 76-78, the bottom end is the same, jugs, pistons and heads are unique to the CC size.

It would be even more fun if all this remaining 440 Liquidator hardware could somehow be coagulated into one....machine. Clearly it's all kinds of rare and prototypical because it wasn't going anywhere in the big picture 40 years ago.

I agree Pat. It would be great to see this sled all put together. Would be cool to have the only one in existence and have the bragging rites. This sled won't be cheap to build but final results will be priceless. Any way to get that recoil cover....

Rat,

The rules for cross country racing in 1976 limited the displacement to 340cc, but had no hp limits until 1978. My guess would be Deere deciding to remain focused on CC racing and not enter into oval or endure type racing my have limited the desire to build 440cc Liquidators.

Just my thoughts...

Thanks Don. It was a project that I was never able to get to. Sled went to a really good home and pretty confident that one day it will be put together for all to see. We all have projects that we will never get to but yet we hang on to the parts. Did not want to put up for sale here as I have become Friends with many Folks from this site and didn't want to risk anybody upset that I sold to somebody else and not them.

More parts will be auctioned off in the very near future. My 77 Liquifire will always stay with me, that's my Holy Grail and the pride of my fleet.
