Grease fitting modification for suspension

Post by buckeyetrailfire »

Hey guys I want to install grease fittings in the suspension on my traifire . Can someone tell me what size to use. I was planning on welding a nut and drilling a small hole into the cross shafts and threading the zerk fitting into the nut. What size hole works best.

Thanks for you input,

Mark

Anything will work. Find a grease zerk with threads first, then find a nut to go on it. Dosent have to be a big hole at all. Start small.
Many new and used parts available, I ship anywhere. Thanks everyone.

OK, let's be totally honest. If you've installed zerks in your suspension, have you really ever greased them? Let the responses begin.

Ive greased them.. :beers;

1/4-28 nuts work well with 1/4-28 grease zerks. I go to Fastenal!

Summerizing is A LOT easier. A few pumps of grease and your all set for next winter! Even if you pull the suspension out every year...the zerks make greasing the shafts easier.

I usually drill and tap whatever it is I'm putting a zerk in. Is the material too thin for that?
