Hi Eric, you have purchased one of the most sought after John Deere sleds, congratulations.....maybe

The parts you mentioned, windshield ( it fits only the 340/S) seat cover, tank cover are none existent as parts. Both the seat and tank covers can be reproduced but will not be cheap.

If you're a John Deere purist and into John Deere sleds then forge ahead on this project but if you bought this sled as a rider sled I have to suggest that you sell it and use the proceeds to purchase multiple other "rider" sleds. I am NOT interested in buying your sled, just trying to prevent another classic sled from disaster.

You will find lots of help on this site and I would be willing to share with you a CD of pictures from a 340/S restoration project. I would suggest that you post several pictures of your sled so that we can guide you better.

Congratulations!!!

You can make your own windshield of you buy the polycarbonate in a sheet. I have a couple template windshields just for that purpose. You would also need to buy the edging, but that can be found on Dennis Kirk and a couple other websites. Johns upholstery does the seat and tank covers if you have a decent base to work with. He does good work. Or, you can use a local shop.
Congrats on the purchase!

Make sure you send your foam for the seat and tank cover so if they need repair or have shrunk they can be compensated for it. The best way in my opinion is to find a reputable upholstery shop nearby and take the whole sled in. That way it's easier for the upholstery shop to fit everything to the sled. The 340/s and Liquidator use snaps to hold the seat on and it's very hard to get those fitted correctly unless the upholstery shop has the sled. I went that rout and everything fits like a glove. Really show quality but it was expensive since my foam was in such bad condition. My stitching lines up perfectly from the gas tank cover to the seat.

Hi Eric,

Congrats on picking up Raymond's 340/s. I think that bounced betwwen John's and my basement in NY a few times. Don is right that they are one of the more tempermental Deere's, but if you can handle early SRX's the 340/s should be in good hands. Most of that sled is unique to itself, but a few parts do interchange with other Deere's of that era. Hoods, belly pans, seat covers, snowflaps and such have been reproduced, and I do the tool box's at the back of the seat.

Cannon classics used to make windshields, but Jeff has closed down for health concerns. I hope to see those windshields get done again though.

Good luck with your sled,
