81 Liquifire clutch removal issues **Resolved**

Hi Guys... Need some help.
It's time to do the crank seals and I'm unable to get the clutch off. I have the Comet 102 clutch puller #216097 and when I try to use it I can thread it almost all the way in until I"m not able to turn it any more. About 3/8 of an inch from the bolt head... I'm using a 22", 1/2" bar and its bending... Something is not right.
I have read some post about grease and hydraulics but am not clear on how much grease to use or if there might be another answer. Can someone shed some light on this.
I have also read about the 216097 not being long enough... Could use some advise before I wreck something.

I just had a stubborn clutch on a Sportfire

I tried and tried with the clutch puller. Filled the inside of the clutch with grease. put a a bolt with the correct thread in. wound it in with my impact wrench, Pop clutch is off.

Grease, oil or even water will work. With grease the sled does not have to be on it's side. Oil or water sled need to be on it's side to get the clutch full.

Like Lloyd said I too find grease to give the best hydraulic compression to assist with a tough clutch.

After you get that puller nice and tight... try giving a hard tap with a hammer. That jolt usually pops them off. IF not the grease works well.

Thanks Guys for the advice... Used the grease method and had it off in 5 minutes.
I had never heard of this trick but sure am glad I asked for some help
