You do not have to be a club member to use the web site. Simply register as you did here at JD Sleds. Somewhere in my memory, i think that person who is an aviation mechanic is an ACSCC club member and i have met them or know someone who knows them.robtan88 wrote:Thanks for the welcome back Don. Has been a long time without doubt.
Thank you Greg for the suggestion. Never even thought of that web site. I would have to join and become a member of that club?..Rob.

Re: Wanted/ searching for my old Snowfire
Rob welcome back! I am a newer member myself but have been a Deere enthusiast since a kid. I used to do police work for some years and quickly lived in a world saturated in negativity and distrust. Us as humans can easily forget how to enjoy life and appreciate it when we are wronged. Needless to say I now work with the states most mentally i'll and dangerous population, and their almost easier to deal with than John Doe public lol. All the guys here are wonderfully helpful I have learned and a good crowd to visit with on a daily basis, doesn't seem like hundreds or even thousands of miles separate good conversation!

Re: Wanted/ searching for my old Snowfire
Thanks sledhead16. Yes this ordeal has made me a tad bit more cautious if you will. From what you have just mentioned in the above statement, gives me chills at the thoughts of your occupation. My issue doesn,t compare to what you see or deal with!
On a positive note, I am fully in acceptance that I may NOT find the old girl, and will have to move on.
Greg. I found the "how too,s" on the ACCSCC of that site and just waiting to get authorization to post there. Thank you once again for the suggestion...Rob.

Re: Wanted/ searching for my old Snowfire
Rob, My first JD sled was an 80 Trailfire 340 that I got for $1 as a kid from the old timer neighbor whose kids grew up. Now The sled got a few years of wear and tear maybe more tear and I gave it to a friend and who knows where it is now....But last year I found another 80 Trailfire 340 and have brought it back to riding condition....It may not be my exact sled but I tell ya the memories are almost the same when I ride it! Moral of the story, if yours is lost you can always find a look alike and have almost just as much fun!

Re: Wanted/ searching for my old Snowfire
Thanks sledhead16. I am hoping to find her but if not, I will have to bring another home somehow. I,m sure "JOHN DEERE JOE RAINVILLE" has 20 or so in his barn at home or can find one for me, but this one is special. I have had a lot of John Deere snowmobiles, but 2 were over the top ...The Sprintfire, and the Snowfire. I worked like a dog for them both, and reasons only I can appreciate...Rob.
Re: Wanted/ searching for my old Snowfire
I will make a couple of calls to other club members who might know who that is. I can remember meeting this person or hearing about him and recall he is an aviation mechanic.robtan88 wrote:Thanks sledhead16. Yes this ordeal has made me a tad bit more cautious if you will. Will let you know on here what i find out.
If you are looking for another Trailfire, a person i know who used to work at JD in Grimsby has one they would like to sell and want it to go to a good home that will look after it well since it is supposed to be in very nice shape with low km's on it. I have no more room for any more sleds. The machine is in Erin and i believe it is a '79. Don't know if it is a 340 or 440.

Re: Wanted/ searching for my old Snowfire
Thank you Greg. I have a feeling I am getting close to at least an answer as to finding out where she is. I have access to limited funding. and would like to concentrate it towards getting the Snowfire, or finding another Sprintfire. Ultimately would like one of each again one day. I would say yes regarding the Trailfire that I am interested and that is very generous for you to pass this information on to me, but I only have limited funds that I would like to concentrate toward my goal. It sounds like a real beuty and under different circumstances, I would be all over that Trailfire. You would know what a good one is all about..Rob.
Re: Wanted/ searching for my old Snowfire

Re: Wanted/ searching for my old Snowfire
Greg and Lloyd. I see that you both have helped out in posting links in my Snowfire search at the Acscc forum. Thank you both for taking the initiative and helping out. I am still unable to post over there as of yet as I understand that they are a little short staffed in moderators and such to clearing new applications. I am still no further ahead with the search either, and if someone has it and its completeing a collection, I would probably keep it low keyed aswell. Not many Snowfires were built as you all know, and even fewer to be found in Canada. I will keep sniffin the dirt...Rob.
