Hey guys,
I'm looking for a trigger for my 340/S that I use as my trail rider. I've done a bunch of testing on the electrical system and came to the conclusion that the trigger is bad. It definitely surprised me to have that of all things go out, but after testing everything per the service manual and per a friends recommendations and help that is what is the reason for why I have a dead cylinder. I'm not sure how hard this will be to find a new NOS one, but if you have one I would sincerely appreciate it if you would be willing to sell it. Please remember that this isn't for a restoration that won't run much it's for getting my favorite trail rider back on the trail. The trigger that I need is part number AM53177. This is the trigger that is used on both the 295/S and the 340/S. Unfortunately it has to be that trigger as the later square plug and round plug triggers are entirely different resistance's and will not work on a 340/S. Please let me know what you got and thank you in advance guys!

Re: WTB Trigger
So I'm shooting from the hip here but it seems to me if the CDi boxes interchange then a new pickup should work on an older sled maybe I'm full of it here but just my thoughts , that said I'll check to see what I have. Wade

Re: WTB Trigger
The only difference that I know of would be the length of the wires and the type of connector. That would explain the different part numbers. The timing ring itself is the same.

Re: WTB Trigger
See I had always thought that they were the same too, but the newer ones are much lower resistance. Now keep in mind, I'm not talking about the round plug vs. the square plug as they are the exact same just different connectors. The one in question is the early prestolite used in the 295/S and 340/S. Like I said, I always thought the trigger were interchangeable too, but if you ohm check them they are way different.
