ANY INTEREST IN DATOR PIPES??

Post by Horicon Joe »

Knocking around the idea of reproducing dator pipes. I made models from factory prints. Could possibly make them to fit
a 340 Liquifire motor as well. Let me know what you guys think?

Are you planning on making the muffler, as well as the pipes? I would be in for a couple of sets of pipes.

The original dies are somewhere in Ontario. No one can locate them

I would do the silencer can as well ..... Peter you are correct sir. I know just where they were made and am looking into that as well.
Rough estimate is $1000 for full set.

I would be in far 2 sets. It would make a clone look a lot closer to an original Dator.

I will take 2 muffler/silencer cans for sure.
Possibly another complete set of pipes/muffler as well.

Joe , I have to commend you for stepping up to the plate taking on something like this again.
Great of you to do !

Nothing for sure yet. Peter told me that the original tooling was picked up by some Yamaha guys and I need to make sure it doesn't somehow miraculously show up after I am in the middle of the project if I start it.

I will be seeing the "Yamaha" guys soon. I will ask them then. Don't know how to contact them but they show up at all the local swapmeets
