I'm not sure who it is who sent this to the guy selling that motor on ebay, so I'm just going to make a general statement.

It's one thing if you are going to be a jerk to the guy, it is another thing if you are going to bring my web site into it. If this is how you think you are promoting this site, do me a favor, and don't bother. We do not all need to be looked upon as jerks, just because you are acting like one.

You are quite the slick car salesman...aren't you? Just thought you'd like to know that you are the laughing stock of the largest JD Snowmobile website in the US! Check out http://s12.invisionfree.com/jdsleds/index.php?showtopic=433. Don't get pissed, we just have a little more knowledge about the motor you are trying to pass off as 'not for the novice', 'a race motor'. Oh heck, you crack me up!

In an effort to offer the "other side of the coin" so to speak, I am thankful that someone called that seller out. If they happened to link a page from this website, then you would have to be ticked off at everyone who posted a comment about that particular seller.

Obviously this is your website and you can pull it, shut it down, or censor it how you wish, but take a lesson from other web sites such as the NH snowmobile museum, or vsca. They are much bigger, and have weathered similiar if not much harsher threads than what is going on now with that particular ebay seller.

For example, there is currently a heated debate (on NH museum site) about a gentleman who passed off a cheetah track as a $500 King Kat track. If any of you know a cheetah track brings about $50, a king kat track about $500. (this is for an example only, so don't anyone get snippy and start quoting me on these prices). Basically, the track is the same, and fits on both sleds. So then, why the huge price difference? Seller description, or possibly seller trying to get a few more bucks off something that really isn't a king kat, but just HAPPENS to FIT the king kat.

I chatted a bit with Glen Mallory (as I have a couple arctic cats and he is a well known cat man), and he mentioned that quite often a smart king kat restorer will quietly call around asking for a cheetah track instead (knowing good and well he is trying to restore his king kat, without getting hosed by folks over charging for king kat parts).

The point of all of this is, I am extremely thankful to the many of people who have emailed me privately, or otherwise when they saw (possibly on ebay) or heard of me purchasing an item that was from a less than reputable seller. I thanked them and moved on. Just a few months ago I got screwed on a set of carbs for a yamaha drag sled I am putting together, from GPX racing. I posted a couple questions to a couple other sites, and got a straight forward answer. I got screwed. That company is full of liars and thieves. I chalked it up as lesson learned, and bought carbs somewhere else.

That seller selling the so called race motor (in my opinion) is a fraud. Read the description. Raced at Eagle Creek? 120 MPH? 220 PSI? I'm sorry, but I am having a hard time find even a fraction of truth in that sellers ad. If I had bid on it (which I am not), I would personally be thankful for a second opinion, and likely would have asked him/her to withdraw my bid.

Don't forget when all of you were new to the vintage sled hobby, likely you know more now than when you started (about what prices to pay, what is junk, what year sleds are worth more money, who to buy from, etc.) An inexperienced person would likely buy into that sellers description. If they did, they would have got taken.

There's always 3 sides to every story. Yours. Mine. And the truth. (which is usually a little bit of both.)

Just my 2 cents. Hopefully I was able to fashion my thoughts in a non-offense manner. Don't take offense Matt. It would be foolish to think that every post on here is a reflection of you.

Have peace my brother!

Well said. No offense taken. I still feel that it was unessecary for this person to make an attack on the seller, and I DO think that it can create a negative reflection of this place. I've seen this happen on other hobby forums. I've seen entire forums get a negative reputation because of some of its users.

Hey Guys,

Matt has a good point here, but I also agree with parts of other post.

The seller should be able to back up his increadable claims with fact. But, Evil-Bay can bring out the worst in some sellers. For example, about 4 or 5 years ago I met a looser who sold a buddy of mine a go-cart powered by a Yamaha VMax-4 motor off Evil-Bay. When I was there in Illinois to pick it up for him, I asked the seller if the sled was totalled or something. He told me "No Man, it was STOLLEN!" I called my buddie and left it there. That guy was dumb enough to sell a hot motor on a go cart on Evil-Bay, so buyer beware.

It's not a bad idea to call the guy on his claims, but making fun of him was a little unprofessional, and pointing to the thread made the page look amature-ish. It's good that we can all voice our opinions, but keep the page respectablet too.

That said, I won't be bidding on that "race motor" anyway. But, if it was given 12:1 compression over the stock 6.8:1 (or so), it might actually have 220 PSI in each cylinder. Beats me, buyer beware!

Have fun guys,

also if you look closely at the motor in the pic it may have some paint on the head bolts something that was done to insure no messing around took place in the pits between heats
