Well I had 2 mishaps at the HOF ride with her. First on Friday night I flipped it going across a lake. It came to rest on the hood and handle bars at about a 45 degree angle with the track and skis looking at the sun set. I couldn't believe my eyes at how it sat there. I should of taken a picture but was in shock! I held my breath as I tipped it back over waiting for the damage report. To my surprise I only cracked the windshield! There was enough snow out there to save it I guess??? This picture tells the exact story of how the sled landed.
Then for the swamp lake challenge I lost a suspension bolt and had to pull the pin on the ride ........ Some of the guys tried talking me into finishing with a screw driver stuck in the hole and keep my foot on it but to wreck the tunnel would not be worth it
Instead I accepted the walk of shame for first out at the banquet

Ouch! Good thing you can laugh about it......that screwdriver would have done a number on the threads in the suspension shaft.

My understanding is that the threads in the shaft were already stripped, so the screwdriver wasn't going to hurt that, but after you wallow out the hole in the side of the tunnel, that is really kind of hard to fix.

Joe, great that it wasn't any worse and that you were not hurt. Lakes can frequently hold a surprise based upon my misspent youth. Then on the first VC I hit something on Gogebic and did a few feet at what seemed like a 30 degree tilt to the guy behind me, but it landed on its feet with me still on-board, and that was at a very cautious speed. I would guess you were doing a bunch more speed than that.

The bolt worked its way loose on the poker run and I noticed it at the end of the day at the Hall. I tried tightening it there and it was
stripped from driving it loose. Brian .... that is exactly why I threw in the towel at that point ......
What I hit on the lake was a void in the snow not a hard bump. The front left ski rolled down and I am guessing it did some sort fancy flipping to land like it did. I'll take the loss of a NOS windshield over the hood any day! Speed was about 50

Just joined this forum and found your highly viewed story, Joe. As someone else had mentioned, the Liquifire II really is a piece of functional art! Very impressive. How many hours do you think you spent on this project?
