Ski Replacement?

So the skis on my 77 Liqui are pretty stoved in and they've had some amateur rust repair on them, so I was wondering if it would be feasible for me and a couple buddies to cut the spring perches and remake the rear spring pin holes from the old Deere skis and fab them onto a pair of mid 80s-90s Yamaha Phaser skis. Of course, we would have to cut the ifs rails off of them, but would it be possible, or am I looking at buying a nice used set of deeres? I already have a contact on the deere skis from a couple years back when I bought my backrest, so that isn't really an issue. Thanks in advance!

A lot of guys really like the composite (plastic) ski upgrade like DA mentioned.

I believe that New Breed Parts has the complete kits available.

Another option would be a new set of aftermarket skis.

Or a good set of used OEM skis.

What you mentioned in revamping Yamaha skis sounds like a lot of work and cost.

I would definitely buy the plastic skis if I had the budget now, but I can't justify spending more than I paid for the sled on skis. I know it's worth it, but I kinda just need something to get me by. Also as far as the cost and work, I have access to welding supplies and cutting tools.,So all it'd take is a bit of work, but I think I might as well pick up some used jd's, as the yamis may be a bit thin for the leaf to ride in.
Edit: the plastic skis on new breed appear to be for the 80+ sleds. I have not done too much research on those, are the leafs the same length?

Just a note that you can buy the New Breed spring saddles separate from the kit for $150 and fab them up to whatever skis you want. Then maybe you can buy the composites later if you attach them to whatever ski you have laying around now. All Deere leaf springs are the same dimension, 26" x 2", so the ski kits can go on any Deere and many other brands as well.
