Old sleds are hours of entertainment.... then you get to ride them for a little bit.

That is an unbelievable sled. Just watched the history of the 76' I-500, and that year in cross country racing for Deere. Your sled makes me think of those hey-days, and would be nice if you stomped em'. Good luck.

Re: Alexandria to Wilmer Race Ready
Since the finish in December, 600 miles of test riding in and wrapping it up for the year. I feel pretty good about my sled. No, actually I love my sled and feel really good. The test miles have brought good and bad. Carbs not working correctly early in the season and then a bad stator at the RWC. I was able to put 270 miles on this week and she ran awesome. -24 degrees Thursday morning after sitting out in the cold all night it started on the 4th pull.
I can not encourage everyone enough, just put in a new rewound stator from HewTec. I put in a NOS stator during the rebuild and thought I was golden, 300 miles in the 30+ year old stator crapped out. Guys save yourself frustration, take an either used or even NOS and have it rewound by Scott.
This week on the 135 mile ride back I felt my left hand steering seemed tougher than normal. Sure enought here is what I found at home. I will take this type of wear and tear that comes with 600 miles of riding. Something was not exactly sitting right with my spindle and ski bracket. Still these type of issues are to be expected after beating it up for 600 miles (much more acceptable than dealing with electrical or motor issues).
Feel good wrapping it up for the winter. Glad to get lots of issues resolved. As with our vintage sleds I am sure more will come but that is what makes it fun.
