Found a 1983 sprintfire 340
Also a 1982 trailfire 440 I haven't talked to the guy yet, I'm getting close to finishing my 80' trailfire(my first sled), I was wanting to get a second Deere for my girlfriend to ride, so when I saw the sprintfire I figured that's the one. I'm not sure how much he is looking to get it just says make offer on both deeres , so that brings me to the point of this post, how much should I offer the guy and not be hurt? Sprintfire runs good cracked windshield, needs taillight lens, the trailfire needs choke cable but runs good. I would like both but really want the sprintfire so if someone could give me an idea of a fair offer for both and each I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks,
Matt

I'm by no means an expert on these but personally I wouldn't give any more than$450 for the sprintfire knowing it would probably need seals and there's pretty much ALWAYS more parts needed than first thought. As for the trailfire in the same basic condition, if say 3-400. Keep in mind I haven't seen these in person and value varies greatly on overall condition. Good luck!

Re: Need sprintfire advice please!!
The sprintfire looks good in the picture for what we can see. Even the seat looks original. Even with seal replacement and taillight lens I think 500 is a very good buy. I would not be afraid of this sled if it runs and all is complete. Tom
How is the track? In good shape that's 150 for sure.

Re: Need sprintfire advice please!!
I agree with Tom. The track is the one thing that will be a problem on these Sprints.
If it is good than $500 is in the ball park.
You will love the ride of the Sprint as it has more travel than any other Deere and very quite engine.

I agree with jdjock and JDT. It looks nice. If it has handwarmers and a tach and it runs buy it up!

Re: Need sprintfire advice please!!
Bought my 12 year old a Formula S this year as he thought he'd rather drive that on the trails.
He had me switch 1/2 thru the ride to use MY Sprintfire.
"It's like riding on a cloud!", he says. (After we got back)
Next time we'll take 2 Sprints out.
If I didn't have any, I'd go $500 for a clean one.
The pics look nice.

Re: Need sprintfire advice please!!
When in doubt, Don't let $50 sway your vote....WE have all spent $50 in far worse places and on dumber things! As far as the trailfire goes, It better be in trailready condition for $500. I have $550 into my trailfire after paying initially $150 for it and it is not pretty by any means but man it runs good and hauls the mail! Another thought is Sprintfire parts are hard to come by that is the only reason I stay away from the snow/sprint at this time. Buy The Sprint though if shes worthy, check her over GOOD, check compression! Check the Track and Skid! Good Luck

Re: Need sprintfire advice please!!
I agree with the guys on the Sprintfire. If the track is OK, the seat is in good shape and she runs, $500 seems reasonable. I think I paid about that for an 83 Sprintfire with under 800 miles in it around 7 or 8 years back. She did the 150 miles of the Vintage Challenge a few times now, and is a fun little sled to ride.
One thing to remember besides crank seals is to replace all the oil lines. I recommend the thick wall line Cat sells, or something similar. I do not care for the thin wall "primer" line that somewhat fits.
Good luck,
-Joe
