Trailfire carb is-5 sesues?
Trailfire carb is-5 sesues?
no snow here this year, to speak of, and wasn't able to run the sled last year, so it's been 2 years since I started my 79 Trailfire. Started right up, ran for 3-5 seconds and died like it's out of gas. Kept doing this, no matter if choke on or off. I'm thinking the float might be stuck. I'll try to attach a little youtube video o it running. http://youtu.be/Aqv3Ms52kI4 If I give it throttle it revs up, but then up and dies on me. Any thoughts? Doubt we'll have more snow, so may be a Summer time re-do. Any quick fixes I should try first before tearing out the carb (again) Thanks.

Re: Trailfire carb is-5 sesues?
I would start with a quick removal of carb, disassembly and spray out with cleaner and some compressed air. Seems like sometimes a quick carb cleaning fixes the problem even when you do not find it full of visual debris. The think the internal float slides are brass lined and can get green and stick to the slide shafts, especially if you stored with ethanol fuel. The second thing I would check is the fuel delivery - diaphragm pump/filter. These things I would try first and don't cost anything.
