pallet rack sled storage

Post by mn.deereguy »

Will be moving to new shop and I have been wanting to buy or build some big pallet racking for storing multiple sleds I was hoping maybe someone else had done this and could post pics. I think putting them on a pallet would be nice cause I could lift them down with forks when I need them would free up a lot of floor space

Andy, I will try to get some pic's up for you, but I am a big believer in pallet racks for sled storage. I have tried a few types between the NY and TX barn. One thing for sure is that the 9' beams are much better than 8 footers for sleds. The 100 series and direct drive sleds fit ok on the 8' long shelves, but front motor sleds are much better off on a 9 or even 10 foot long shelf. For depth, go at least 36". The 42" width is ok, but does take up a bit more floor space.

Good luck, and I hope this helps,

I hope to get racks so I can go 4 high or maybe 5 even as I have 18 foot side walls but will try to find 42 or 48 depth racks just trying to maximize storage space and not Take up as much on the floor

I will get some photos this week. I keep one on the top shelf and another on dollies below the shelf. Small foot print for 2 sleds. I also added casters to the legs so I can roll the shelf around the barn with the sleds on.

I put up a rack with 9' beams 48"wide and store 6 sleds on it. Total lifesaver in my shop!
