I bought a flywheel for my 79 trailfire 340 with a ring gear on it for electric start. i thought that i had a stater for it. it fit perfectly when i installed so i thought that i was home free. WRONG I turned it over and noticed that my clutch was spinning the wrong way. so now i need to find the correct starter. does anybody know a good spot to start my search. thanks

That was my first thought but when reversing the starter the splines on the gear are in the wrong direction so when the starter is reversed and then engaged the gear will not engage on the flywheel being that it is spinning backwards....

Well i am gonna assume that you mean how to hook up the wiring and what not cause the starter and flywheel are pretty self explanatory. But to answer that question that is when it pays to know people. I have a friend that is an electrical engineer. With his knowledge my traifire tech. manual and some supplies from his employer we are gonna get it to work. But once we get it all figured out i will tell you how we hooked it all up. According to my tech. manual i need is a starter, flywheel, additional wiring harness, cylenoid, different ignition switch, stator, and rectifier ( I hope that is right cause it's all from memory, I didn't bring my tech manual to school with me).
