04-796 is a Kimpex part number.

Kevlar is a type of reinforcement material.

Yes Nick it does appear so. Todd yes thank you, it must be a Kimpex replacement, he thought he may have gotten it from Dennis Kirk years back but of course can't remember. Robert, yeah I'm not really sure what he was going for with the whole carb thing hahaha

Allen,

It looks like your sled was updated to Kimpex replacement for the Polaris direct drive rubber track. It's the only track I know of with a 2.0" drive lug pitch, but it was driven off the center belt with two rows of drive lugs. And, the Polaris slide rail center to center was much wider than Deeres. It looks like your rails were spaced apart, and the drive sprockets were flipped to engage the lugs on the center belt.

Nice find,

I was thinking that 04-796 was a Yamaha replacement track.

Joe,

Do we know which Polaris direct drive model used this track? Maybe then we will have another suitable full rubber replacement for these sleds with a few easy modifications.

Andy did you do the same thing, just move in the paddle cogs to the center belt and space the slide rails a little farther apart? Did you run into any cleareance issues with the rear arm assembly?

I had a 84 with that exact same track. Can you tell us where it came from?

Hey Horicon Joe,

yup ...... that is who I sold it to

I bought it from a guy in MN that raced it. Chuck picked it up for me and delivered it to Waconia.
It maybe even came from Wi close to Chuck???

I love hearing more about the history of a sled!

Has anyone seen this post on CL about Talon tracks, cut any size and pitch? I haven't contacted the guy to find out anymore info, but if he can do what he says it might be an (expensive, I'm guessing) option for new tracks for Deere's if the lugs aren't too tall..... Nothing comes up when I try to go to the website.

I still have the seat that came with it ........ it was Perfect!

If the lugs are too tall they could be shaved down ......
