83 SnowFire
83 SnowFire
Picked this fellow up the other day. Seems to be in great condition. Had been winterized when put in storage (who knows how long) Little to no rust even has the original gas cap that is clear. Track and shocks look like brand new. Does not seem to have come with a speedometer. After checking the fuel system and seals started it up and runs perfectly. Things that would need fixed are the primer pimp knob is broken and where the latch resides on the left side is missing. Looks like someone doped something heavy on that side snapping the primer knob, windshield and taking out the latch with fiberglass.
Curious if i should just keep it clean or go through a restoration. Does not seem to need much but work on the hood and bumper. Thoughts?

It looks pretty nice. It's all on your opinion as to restore or not to. A trailer queen is ok but its always more fun to have a rider!

Re: 83 SnowFire
Yes this is very fun to play with. Children loved it as well. Al lot easier to move around than the trailfire and liquifire.

NUMBER ONE!!! Unless you know for sure, change the crank seals or the "fun" is over, kaput, gone. If you'd like to have a speedo kit I know a guy who is down to 54 NOS speedo kits in stock, he MIGHT sell you one. You have one of the great sleds made by Deere. Congrats.

Re: 83 SnowFire
Will be tearing the engine down and replacing all of the seals. To the earlier post, do not know when the last time this engine was worked on. From the sellers comments my guess would be never. It apparently never left a 4 acre yard and only ran for a few years before being stored. Since this will come apart, figure can replace one of the stickers that was scratched and work on the hood. Any ideas on how to fix this and have stability? Looks like something heavy was dropped on it breaking the primer knob and taking off the hood latch. Will need to find a new primer assembly and hood latch. The hood latch on the right side still has the paper JD part number attached. So either that is new or this sled really did not seem much ride time at all.
