Windshields 80-84 Dimensions

Post by WinnipegStPaul9 »

I know that there are about three different windshields for 80-84's. Sport, Regular?, Cross Country.

How do you describe each of these using dimensions and where are the dimensions taken from? Hood to top of windshield?? Side to side??

Thanks,

DA

Not sure about measurements but the cross country is about the same size as my patio door!

Matt, are you measuring through the curve in the windshield or around it. Mine measure 18" bottom to top in a straightline.

Not measuring the curve. Just like you 16" in a straight line

OK, thanks!! I'm blessed right now with several 18" Kimpex. No 16" or Cross Country.

They all have a slightly different look from each other, the sport slightly flares around all the edges and is visibly shorter, the mid sits more upright in posture and is curved along the top by the edging and the cross country is the big patio door with the flared sides, kimpex does make a mid squarer shaped one currently it appears

Don, and guys,

I thought windshields were measured from the top center straight down at a 90 deg angle. I even told Allen that, but it appears that I am not right. Both Kimpex and Snow Stuff measure the front center face of the windshield up to the top. Also, if there is a headlight cut out, you measure from the top of the headlight cut out to the top lip.

I hope that helps,

Thanks Joe, that's exactly what we need, a "standard" to go by. Now when someone posts a size we will know how and where it was measured. Thanks!!

We definitely need a standard. So flat against the windsheild is what we're going with? I'm pretty sure the Sno-Stuff measurements I have on New Breed are top straight down to the dash. I'll change them though.

The market standard is straight down, do not measure the angle.

It has to be from the top center of the shield to the top of the hood behind the shield. Word is that Stan Hayes' CC windshield had the same drag coefficient as the standard Liquifire sport windshield.

I think we're just doomed forever with the different ways to measure, I guess just knowing how it was measured before you purchase it is best.
