JD 340/s Reproduction Windshields

Post by JoeRainville »

Hi Guys,

I am about to place an order for reproduction 340/s windshields. They will be 0.080" thick polycarbonate with edge trim and should be as good or better than the factory originals. The best original OEM windshield was sent out as the model.

I can sell them for $90 each, but the more I order, the better price I can get, and extend to you guys. Let me know if you are interested in purchasing, and how many you want. I will do the best I can on price, and offer at least a small discount or maybe free shipping on the first set of orders.

I would like to place an order within the next week. If this goes well, 295/s short windshields will be next. Let me know if you are interested...

Thank you,
-Joe Rainville

Put me down for one. If you need more to make the price cuts I may take another for a spare.

I would like to thank everyone for the quick responses. Looks like I have plenty of pre-orders to kick this off, and will be submitting the first order this Friday. I will also order extra's and try to keep some in inventory. Again, thank you for supporting this project.

Hi Guys,

The first order of 20 reproduction 340/s windshields has shipped from the manufacturer today. Once in hand, I will invoice everyone in order. Free shipping on this first set as a bonus for helping justify the investment.

As soon as I have these in hand, I am sending them an original 295/s windshield to reproduce. Aside from the 295/s they will also fit all the JDX and 100 series sleds if someone wants a custom look. One person asked about smoked 295/s windshields, so please let me know if anyone is interested in those too.

Thanks again everyone, couldn't have done this without your support.

Hi Monte,

After the 340/s and 295/s windshields are done, we are looking at what to do next.

Suggestions are always welcome. So far folks have inquired about the short Dator and the tall 78 Liquifire/Cyclone windshield, the short "sport" for the Liquifire/Trail/Sportfires. However if Kimpex or Snow Stuff is already making a certain windshield, we may shy away from that and focus on ones you can't currently purchase elsewhere.

Thanks,

Gentleman,

The first order of new 340/s reproduction windshields has arrived and test fit. Compared to the original Deere unit, the JDR (John Deere Replacement) unit fits just as well as the factory piece. I found a plastic mallet worked well to tap it in place. I left the screws around the headlight loose until all 6 were in place and then tightened them up.

As I said originally, I am covering shipping on this first order to say "thanks" to the guys that pre-ordered. I will be filling requests in the order they were received. These will be $90 each. I can accept paypal at: joerainville@hotmail.com

Thank you,
-Joe

PS: I am getting a quote for 295/s windshields next. Please let me know if you are interested in a clear or potentially a smoked one. Aside from the 295/s, these low units should fit all the other 73-77 JDX and 100 series machines too.

We also checked out the original Deere and the reproduction unit on an original JD fiberglass hood. It appears that the mounting tab slots in the hood were opened up. With the top two screws in place, there is some misalignments with the other holes. There may be some adjustments needed for installing them on the original Deere and reproduction glass hood. Again, I would suggest leaving the screws finger tight and getting them all started before tightening them down, especially on the glass hoods.

Note the attached pic's show the original Deere windshield on the factory glass replacement hood. The reproduction windshield fit the exact same way.

Thanks,
-Joe

Joe, do you have a picture of the 295/s windshield (even better if its on a '00 series)?
