'84 Trailfire #179 saved from a WY driveway.

Post by Fairchild »

Well here she is, luckily for me it was too far for everyone else out east to get as I was on a road trip through WY/KS/MO/IL/WI/MN/SD/NE/KS/WY while this one popped up. I had the pleasure of meeting Tom Rehberg while picking up an '81 Liquifire on said road trip.

To get this Trailfire, I swung down WAY into Wyoming on my way to work in NoDak. It's pretty rough, but overall very straight. It is very windy today so I didn't lift the hood, but will later and post the disaster under the hood. Virtually all rubber is shot, most wiring is bad and the carb is laying in the tub and missing the bowl. The guy did find the airbox (with mouse nest) after we got it loaded. Maybe he will fine the bowl someday! The motor is free though and track looks decent thanks to the dry WY weather.....

Another side note, we had our first snow in town in Red Lodge, MT down to 5000' Oct. 27th!

You know Joe, I was just thinking the same thing! At first I thought it was just the angle of the pic.

I am a Liquifire owner and rider but a couple of years ago I got a chance to spend a afternoon on a Trailfire. Maybe across the lake you might find yourself toward the end of the pack but in the woods you will be right in the thick of things! One of the most underrated sleds ever made! Nice purchase and good luck with her.
