My dad confirmed it was taken in product engineering by the time clock.
The slides have much nicer detail.

Joe,

Taking a look, I see a lot of 295/s clues, like the small mid mount tank, twisted exhaust pipe, Comet drive clutch, etc. 340/s hints include front mounted motor, straight bars, and 340/s looking front chassis pieces. I also see diagonal running tie rods, a Comet 90D driven, and a tall chaincase. By those clues, I agree with you that it looks like an early 340/s proto, instead of the later Cyclone/Liquifire chassis.

Again, excellent pics and thanks for posting them.

I'm going with proto 340/S. Can you identify the guys in the picture and associate them with the project?

I'm going with the early 340/S mock up.

Cool to see that kind of stuff around yet.

We've seen the pics of what JRC has said was his 295/S race sled, out in the snow with an engine mounted in the front. So if these are dated May, my guess would be that it was a mock-up. or proof of concept, continuing the effort.

They were built in October, so they didn't have much time to get the design finalized and get the parts specs to the vendors. Seems amazing that they got it done.

The front frame seems to very much resemble what wound up on the 340/S, and you'll notice they already have the shocks mounted over top of the skis. And, they have the round loop skis.
