Re: 340/S PROTO?
If not proto than I'm going with oval and drag sled. Lighter tank and seat. Easier access to carbs. Chai case for jetting and gearing. I like it.

Would the pipe be custom or 295s?

Re: 340/S PROTO?
I am thinking like Brian. First front engine frame mockup after road ditch on the snow testing of the front engine mod of a 295/s at the Deere dealership in Hatton ND, that we have seen video and stills of. The guy sitting on the seat looking down, seems to have oriental facial features. If so, a visiting engineer from the engine homeland? Gives one a better idea of huge amount of work goes into building a sled and have it ready for the race season 6 months later. Thanks Joe for posting these! And Merry Christmas all.

Re: 340/S PROTO?
That one is straight off a 295/s. I'm imagining the guys in the shop who built it standing around looking at this saying "wow, this thing looks mean" or whatever word they would have used in the 70s. Big leap from a mid-mount.sledhead16 wrote:Would the pipe be custom or 295s?

Re: 340/S PROTO?
On slide 2 there is a extra shroud bolt possibly going to the head on the pto side like a 295/s shroud and pto head. This is gone for the 340/S and the Cyclone motors.

We probably would have said something like "groovy baby" or"holy cow, Captain Whizbang!"Matt wrote:That one is straight off a 295/s.
